On June 5, 2025, Informations2 unveiled i2Backup V9—its next-generation data protection platform—along with an exciting lineup of new data management products at the “Beyond Backup: Reinventing Protection” event in Shanghai.

Until the launch, V9 has already been deployed at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to secure petabyte-scale financial data. The release also announced two strategic moves: a China Data Replication and Disaster Recovery White Paper and a Data Ecosystem Strategic Cooperation Alliance with major industry players.

A Decade of Evolution: i2Backup V9 Redefines the Future of Data Protection

Designed for complex IT environments, V9 delivers unified management, intelligent scheduling, multi-platform compatibility, high scalability, and trusted security, offering comprehensive, scenario-wide data protection. 

Key advantages include:

• Reliability: Rebuilt backup and storage modules support auto-expiration, multi-copy retention, and cross-domain replication, ensuring data traceability and control throughout its lifecycle—even at PB scale.

• Intelligence: A new policy engine supports complex topologies like one-to-many and many-to-many backups, intelligently allocating resources based on dynamic workloads.

• Simplicity: Built on the i2FS file system, V9 supports disk, S3, Blu-ray, tape libraries, and distributed storage through unified media management, greatly simplifying operations.

• Scalability: Optimized for high concurrency and massive data volumes with modular design enhancements across LAN-Free, tape library, and deduplication components.

• Compatibility: Fully supports domestic platforms (Phytium, Kunpeng, Loongson CPUs; major Chinese OS/databases). 

Notably, i2Backup V9 has been successfully deployed at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), replacing legacy foreign backup systems to safeguard critical financial data at petabyte scale. Leveraging the i2UP platform, ICBC implemented cross-domain replication, multi-site redundancy, and LAN-Free high-speed backup—showcasing the maturity of domestic software in core banking systems.

CEO Hu Junqing positioned V9 as the culmination of 13 years of R&D: “This answers how data should be protected today.” The platform signals Information2’s evolution from backup to an integrated data management ecosystem spanning disaster recovery, migration, and cloud ops.  

“Beyond Backup” Theme: How Information2 Driven Data Security Field

1. China Data Replication White Paper: This is a milestone publication for China data replication and disaster recovery. Co-developed with industry bodies, the paper details CDP, dual-active architectures, and full-stack DR strategies. CTO Zhou Hua emphasized: “This provides actionable frameworks—not just theory—for national digital transformation.”

Li Fang (Beijing Disaster Recovery Alliance) praised Information2’s “sustained innovation in cloud DR and real-time replication.” In a panel, finance/telecom experts highlighted V9’s role in business resilience amid tightening data compliance. 

2. Data Ecosystem Alliance: To promote a robust domestic data infrastructure, Information2 announced the formation of the Data Ecosystem Strategic Cooperation Alliance with partners including Advanced Data Communication, Digital China, Huaxun Network, and Donghua Software. The alliance will focus on collaboration in areas like DR and replication, compatibility with domestic IT stacks, cloud-edge coordination, and ecosystem certifications.
