Data Synchronization — Who Really Gets It?

Release Time:2025-05-27

Who Can Relate? Sync Engineers Are Always on the Edge of a Meltdown

Take our project team as an example: every time we bring up “data synchronization,” the meeting room feels like a ticking time bomb. We argue more than we discuss.
The DBA, cold as the backend code, says: “Don’t touch the source database! If the business crashes, it’s on you.” The project manager slams his pen: “The go-live date is fixed in the PPT—if it doesn’t launch today, my performance review will tank!” Ops shouts: “The full sync took 7 hours and maxed out the CPU. Do you even know that?”
Amidst the chaos, the boss calmly drops: “Let’s cool down. Launch Monday.” Silence.
We thought the problem was communication or poor teamwork—until one day, everything changed with the introduction of a new tool.

The “Sync Nightmares” Every Team Has Faced

Pain Point 1: Legacy Systems Aren’t Ready
System migration stalls when the old system can’t shut down and the new one can’t wait. Scripts run nightly while business operations continue during the day. The next morning, leadership asks, “Why is the new system showing yesterday’s data?” Because the sync is still running.

Pain Point 2: Out-of-Sync Data Breaks Reporting
Leadership asks in a meeting, “Which region had the highest sales last week?” Southeast confidently replies, “Us.” Northwest contradicts, “No, it was us.” Turns out the sync lagged 6 hours, and reports were based on different data sets. A new KPI was introduced: “Reports must be consistent—even if wrong, everyone should be equally wrong.”

Pain Point 3: Heterogeneous Databases, Universal Headaches
In one big data project, the data sources included Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka… The sync chain resembled tangled noodles. The first engineer said, “Nope.” The second tried and failed. The third resigned, saying only: “Don’t call me about this again.”

Then One Day, a Mysterious Tool Appeared

Our boss handed us a new software: “Try this.”
It claimed to use log-based CDC (Change Data Capture) to automatically detect changes and support real-time, stable, heterogeneous sync. Skepticism flooded the room.
PM: “Non-intrusive? Really?”
Dev: “Millisecond latency? Sounds like magic.”
Ops: “Breakpoint resume? Are we in a fairy tale?”
But the truth is: nothing humbles tech teams like working tech.
We piloted a dual-site, bidirectional data sync project. Estimated timeline: two weeks. Actual time: two days. No more yelling, meetings became oddly calm. The PM even suggested a team outing.

CDC: The Core of Modern Data Sync

There are three mainstream CDC approaches:

Query-Based CDC: Polls the database at intervals. Like constantly knocking on a door asking, “Got updates?” Causes high load and poor performance. DBAs hate it.

Trigger-Based CDC: Adds triggers to capture changes. Captures data well, but interferes with the source system. Risky.

Log-Based CDC: The most elegant approach. Reads logs already written by the DBMS to detect changes. Efficient, low impact, and reliable.

Meet i2Stream from Information2

We later learned the tool was called i2Stream, and it’s not just capable—it’s smart:

Real-Time Sync, Millisecond Latency
Uses log-based CDC to capture and sync changes with near-zero delay.
No more “lagging behind” moments.

Non-Intrusive at the Source
No need to alter source DB structure or interrupt business. Our DBA said, “Finally, I can sleep through the night.”

Supports Heterogeneous Environments
MySQL → Kafka, Oracle → PostgreSQL, SQL Server → Dameng—no problem. Acts like a universal translator.

Fully Adaptable to China’s Xinchuang Ecosystem
Seamless integration with domestically developed software and hardware.

Breakpoint Resume + Visual Monitoring
Handles disconnections, network issues, and target DB failures without data loss or duplication. Plus, a visual console shows the whole process—no need to dig through logs.

Award-Winning Performance Across Industries

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Shenzhen Hospital won Best Original Award in the National Finals of the 7th Smart Healthcare Innovation Competition with a Xinchuang integration project powered by i2Stream.

State Grid Beijing Electric Power Hospital used i2Stream in its self-developed HIS system migration project, earning the Golden Practice Award at the 3rd “Dingxin Cup.”

In the same competition, i2Stream also won the Gold Product Award in the migration tools category.

Data Sync: A Small Step with a Big Impact

Syncing data may seem like a small task, but it’s crucial. Without it, your system is like a traveler with no luggage—unprepared and full of gaps.
Now we understand that a solid sync tool is more than a tool. It’s a buffer between teams. It’s the airbag of project delivery.
The night before our project went live, no one had to stay up all night. No one questioned their life while debugging SQL.
The PM said, “Sync is all good.”
And we all replied in unison:
“With i2Stream from Information2, there’s nothing to fear.”
