Zhejiang University, in collaboration with Information2, has successfully established the “Zhejiang University Cloud Backup Sharing Center” with an innovative cloud backup solution as its core. This center not only enables cross-campus real-time access and efficient management of data but also sets a new benchmark for data security and business continuity assurance.
Customer Challenges
As Zhejiang University’s informatization construction progresses, the volume of data has grown rapidly, highlighting the increasing demand for data security and cross-campus real-time access. Considering issues such as dispersed campuses, massive data volumes, diverse terminal types, and weak security, Zhejiang University decided to build the “Zhejiang University Cloud Backup Sharing Center” to achieve centralized management, efficient backup, and cross-campus real-time access of data. This center is expected to provide data backup services for 10,000 users, covering a large number of Windows 7/8 and Windows Server terminals within the school. Each terminal has a vast number of files, with concurrent user numbers expected to reach around one thousand.

In response to the actual needs of Zhejiang University, Information2 provided a cloud backup solution for efficient data backup, real-time monitoring, and remote access through the following key steps:

User terminals automatically back up data to the cloud backup sharing center in real-time through existing lines or dedicated lines, ensuring data security and integrity.
- Dynamic Resource Allocation: The cloud backup sharing center adopts an elastic resource allocation model, dynamically expanding and allocating server numbers based on business needs. Generally, one shared center server can meet the needs of 300 user terminals. Depending on the daily data change volume, Zhejiang University can dynamically adjust the number of servers through the Web console to maximize resource utilization.
- Efficient Recovery and Remote Access: In abnormal situations, Zhejiang University can quickly recover relevant data through the cloud backup sharing center. Additionally, the center supports cross-campus real-time access, ensuring data convenience and availability.
- CDP Protection and Hardware Independence: Information2’s cloud backup solution implements CDP (Continuous Data Protection) functionality independent of hardware. When data anomalies occur, Zhejiang University can quickly recover relevant data on different platforms through a graphical management tool, significantly improving data recovery flexibility and efficiency.
